FAQs
How long does each therapy session take?
Sessions are 50-55 minutes long. If you have been in therapy before, you may recall shorter sessions, as the vast majority of therapists offer only 38-45 minute sessions. While 5-17 minutes may not seem like much, I find it allows us to cover more topics per session, or go deeper into a topic.
What is the fee per session?
The fee for the initial assessment (first session) is $200.Â
Subsequent sessions are $160.
What's the COVID-19 plan?
In my practice, you will almost always have the option of meeting in-person, or online via telehealth. Online sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video chat. In-person sessions are held in a large office, allowing space for physical distancing and the removal of masks, as facial expressions are paramount to therapy work. You will likely be the only client in the waiting room. I have received all vaccinations recommended by the CDC.
Do you accept my insurance?
I am currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Optum, insurance plans. However, if you have a PPO plan with another company, you will likely be able to use your Out of Network benefits with them.
How do I know if you are right for me?
Finding the right therapist can be tricky. While psychotherapy is a science, and medical treatment, it is also an interpersonal experience. How you feel about your dermatologist does not affect how well they remove your mole. How you feel about your therapist very much affects how open, honest, and vulnerable you are able to be and therefore how well I can understand and guide you. This is why I offer a free phone consultation, and encourage clients to "shop around" and follow their instincts.

What about my out-of-network (OON) benefits?
Because I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, your insurance company will likely reimburse you for some portion (potentially 100%) of the fee you pay me. This can help defer some of the costs of psychotherapy.  My suggestion is to call them and ask, "what are my out of network benefits for behavioral health?"
How do I know if I'm right for you?
Clients I work best with are between ages 17-45, and are looking to gain insight into themselves and their struggles. I have a particular passion for working with individuals who are navigating major life transitions, or coping with trauma. I do not typically work with children or older adults, nor major mental illnesses such as schizophrenic, bipolar, or developmental disorders.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?
It may be possible to lower your fee, if you are paying out-of-pocket. I keep a small number of slots open for sliding scale clients, as I believe quality care should be a right, not a privilege.
